    International events: see below.
US events: Events within the US must order online here. Since only official Ace Race TDs may order these packages, you'll need to enter a password:

        Password: runit

You will need a valid credit card. Orders cannot be processed until payment is received

International orders cannot be processed online. Please write to support@sportdiscs.com and we will process your order via email.

When should I order my player packages?
No less than two weeks before your event for orders from the continental United States. International Ace Races should order no less than three weeks ahead. Discraft cannot guarantee delivery in time for your event if you do not follow these guidelines. We also suggest that events being held on military bases provide us with an off-base address for shipping purposes to ensure prompt delivery.

How do I determine how many player packages I should order?
The easiest way is to pre-register your players. Many Ace Race events will order a ‘cushion’ amount of additional packages to cover players who show up the day of the event. Depending on how much you’ve promoted, ordering an additional ten to twenty player packages is generally considered safe.

What is the minimum number of player packages I can order?
    15.

If I order more player packages than I use, can I return the unused packs?
TDs are responsible for all player packages ordered, returns will not be accepted. However, if you do end up with more than you use, it is very easy to get your investment back, since the package is worth $55. You could sell one of the discs for $15, and have the rest of a package available for club giveaways, etc.

Can I order (XX) number of player packages now, and more later if I need to?
Yes, as long as each separate order is at least ten packages. Keep in mind that you are also paying shipping costs, and these costs will go up if you’re ordering multiple shipments, so it is in your best interest to order everything at once.

There is already an Ace Race scheduled in my area. Can I still run one?
When potential conflicts arise between Ace Races, we first ask the TDs to talk with each other and try to resolve any issues on their own. If that fails, Discraft reserves the right to defer to the initially scheduled event, and may request either date and/or location changes to the second event, or to deny that event from participating.

Discraft is giving away baskets to the top events. How does Discraft determine how many players attend my event… can’t I just make up a number to report?
The number of players per event will be based solely on the number of player packages shipped to that event. 2008 Ace Race Event Directors are eligible to win a Chainstar basket, which will be awarded to the top three events worldwide with the most players. “An Ace Race event’ is considered to be 1) held on one or two consecutive days, and 2) held on a maximum of two separate courses within a five mile radius.

Discraft recommends I shorten the holes on my course to between 180 and 250 feet for the Ace Race. How do I best shorten up some of my course's long holes?
Discraft will provide you with free flags that you can use to create Ace Race tee areas on the day of the event. You can order these (limit 40 flags per event) when ordering your player packages.

Can I bring in additional sponsors?
Yes. You are encouraged to make your event as big and successful as possible.

I want to create separate divisions. Can I break up the Grand Prize between them?
No. You may create separate divisions if you like (some events like to create a juniors and/or a womens division), but the Grand Prize must be awarded to your top division, and cannot be broken up. If you make separate divisions, you must generate prizes for additional divisions on your own through sponsorships or club donations.

I want to serve lunch to my players. Is it okay to make my entry fee $30 to cover the cost?
No. All Ace Race entry fees must be $25 (or equivalent for international events). If you want to offer additional side games or other benefits such as lunch, these must be optional for all players and not mandatory.

What is the name of the disc, and is it PDGA approved?
Ace Racers traditionally throw a brand new model -- a prototype -- each year. Due to the nature of prototype disc development, this information will be revealed as it becomes available.

Is my Ace Race sanctioned by the PDGA?
No. As a result, anyone may participate regardless of PDGA membership.

    EVENT INFO:
All info below is subject to change.

    Format:
Two rounds of 18 holes, one throw per hole per player.

    Scheduling:
You may schedule your Ace Race anytime in the months of August, September and October, 2008. At the end of the season, returning events are given an opportunity to reserve a date for the following year. Once open registration begins, Ace Races are scheduled on a first-come, first-serve basis, regardless of prior Ace Race history. Discraft reserves the right to request that conflicting Ace Races change dates and/or locations, or may deny an event to be held if a conflict cannot be resolved.

Please note that as TD, it is your responsibility to check your community’s disc golf event calendar if you wish to avoid scheduling conflicts with other local disc golf events such as tournaments or league activities.

    Course layout:
Holes are generally between 180 and 250 feet (55 to 75 meters).

    Packages and fees:
Minimum number of player packages you must order: 15
Player entry fee (paid by players to you): $25
Player package cost per player to TD: $18 each plus shipping
Grand prize cost to TD: free

The average number of players at each event in 2007 was 40. Player packages and the Grand Prize package for each event will be provided by Discraft. A fee of $18.00 per package plus shipping will be due upon ordering, minimum 15 player packages per event, non-returnable. Package in 2007 was two identical, never-before-seen Discraft prototype discs, plus a SuperColor mini and a Discraft hat. A $55 value. Each event also receives flags to shorten tees, event banner, promotional posters, and additional downloadable and printable documentation.

    Rules of play:
Players are required to use the player package discs, and only these discs. If a disc is lost, the player has the option of using the second disc from the package. Only one throw per player per hole. Groups of up to eight players are generally acceptable, depending on course, time of day and TD discretion. Each player should have their own scorecard and mark "A" for aces and "M" for holes on which they hit metal.

After all players in the group have thrown, discs are picked up and the group moves directly to the next tee. Players keep their scorecards for round two, using the next line on the card to record the round.

The player with the most aces after 36 holes is declared the winner. In case of ties, the number of metal hits is used as a tie breaker. If a tie persists, a closest to the pin contest is then held to determine the event winner.

    Prize package:
Grand prize is a Discraft merchandise package, which may include ten new discs, a disc golf bag, trophy disc and other items. Subject to change. Grand prize will be shipped with your player packages. Events are also encouraged to offer an optional cash or prize side pot for those who wish to participate, which is divided proportionally among the number of aces and/or metal hits. You are also welcome to solicit additional sponsors to build your event and prizes.

    NEW FOR 2008

    - Increased entry fee: Player fee for 2008 will be $25
    - Increased player pack fee: Your cost for each player pack is $18
    - Increased TD player pack profit: up from $5 per player to $7 per player
    - Minimum player packages: events must order at least 15 player packs.

Additional prizes for the top Ace Races:

    - The top three events with the most players win a free Chainstar basket

The number of players per event will be based solely on the number of player packages shipped to that event. 2008 Ace Race Event Directors are eligible to win a Chainstar basket, which will be awarded to the top three events worldwide with the most players. ‘An Ace Race event’ is considered to be 1) held on a maximum of two separate courses within a five mile radius.

Only one basket prize per event, and maximum three prizes will be awarded for the 2008 Ace Race season. In case of ties, a lottery or similar tie breaking contest may be implemented at Discraft discretion. These prizes will be awarded after all event results are tallied for the year.

We will begin mailing promotional posters to TDs in early June. Other documents you'll want include the Player Registration form, rules sheet and scorecards. These may be downloaded from (http://www.discraft.com/downloads/acerace/2008docs.pdf) and printed at your discretion. We strongly recommend you use the sign up sheets, as these include a standard waiver of liability that players sign in order to register. This waiver is intended to protect you in case of player injury or other mishaps during your event.

If you still have questions, please feel free to drop a line.
